Where can I find Pizza and Pasta? Sign seen in Lower Manhattan. I like signs that are clear and fulfill their purpose.

A few blocks from where I live I saw this interesting and beautiful water pipe cover.

I was thinking that it reminded me of the iconography of the Colonial American coin designs made by Benjamin Franklin and others. One famous sun ray design is on a type colonial coin called "Nova." The pipe cover was probably made during the mid 1800's and the designers looked to Colonial design.

I also saw this wrought iron window screen and was struck by its ancient origin. Sun motifs go all the way back to some of the earliest kinds of iconography.

It also reminded me of this colonial coin, also designed by Benjamin Franklin.
